I agree that it is important.

If I look through my history, http://www.somewebsite.com/index.php?id=44 will mean absolutely nothing.

However if I see http://www.somewebsite.com/important-post
I will likely go right to it.

A nice link structure also helps search engines. 

I had a forum in the past that had very ugly links. I found that it took google months to search the site. When I replaced it with &quot;fancy links,&quot; I found my site getting indexed within a couple days.</description>
