Why Choose Post Titles As Your Page Titles?

For WordPress bloggers, you can customized your permalink structures for how your URI look like. But it’s recommended to use your post titles as your page title because of these few reasons:

  1. You’ll get better rank on search engines.
  2. Readers will mostly likely click on your page to view when they search on certain keywords that are related on your page. Consider if you searched “The Sims 2″ on search engines, would you click on a link that showed something like: http://some.domain.com/12345.php?

Apart from the above reasons, I think as bloggers, you could manage your posts more easy. To customize your permalink structure, go to Options tab on your WordPress Admin page. Next, click on Permalinks. Under the common options, select “Date and name based” or specify your custom structure.

One Response to “Why Choose Post Titles As Your Page Titles?”

  1. I think that many people overlook the “fancy uri’s” and they don’t realize how important it is to have your URL reflect what your post is actually saying.

I agree that it is important.

If I look through my history, http://www.somewebsite.com/index.php?id=44 will mean absolutely nothing.

    However if I see http://www.somewebsite.com/important-post
I will likely go right to it.

A nice link structure also helps search engines.

I had a forum in the past that had very ugly links. I found that it took google months to search the site. When I replaced it with “fancy links,” I found my site getting indexed within a couple days.
